Imagine taking other peoples apparent junk and turning it into actual cash that you can use for whatever you want. This may sound like a lot of work to do in order to make a decent amount of cash but you might be surprised when you look at your local dealers scrap metal price list! Not only that but you’re doing a favor to the environment by re-using scrap metal that other people throw out or buying/selling to/from scrap metal price dealers. If everyone in your community was taking advantage of scrap pricing then their lives, their coummunity, our economy and planet would all be better!! Want to become a “Pro” scrap? Here’s some tips from some of the best to get the most out of your scrap metal prices:

Get the word out that you’re gathering scrap metal! Chances are you have friends or neighbors that are throwing away a hefty amount of that they don’t want and could be sold to a scrap metal price dealer for a decent price. Let them know you’re interested in it and tell them you’ll come by and pick it up and then swing by your dealer. I’m sure they’d be happy to allow you to do their work for you, and in some cases some companies will even be willing to pay you moeny to gather up and remove it for them!

Find a scrap metal price dealer in your area. These dealers may know someone who needs a certain piece of scrap metal that he can sell to for a high price and he will give you a decent amount of money for it. Scrap metal prices vary; I’ve been able to get scrap pricing at 50 cents a pound and depending on the item pricing at 2 dollars a pound! It doesn’t sound like much but it can add up pretty quick, especially if you have a truck and go around looking for scrap metal.

Find a company that dumps their scrap metal. This can be one of the biggest gold mines in scrap selling . Some company’s throw away up to 500 pounds of scrap metal in a day! You can turn that into some quick cash if you know the right people and are willing to do a little bit of back and forth hauling. You’d be surprised how many businesses just don’t want to mess with the work so they just throw it away without taking other options into consideration. Give them an option!

Be sure you’re not stealing! Just because you drive by someones house and see a bunch of junk laying there doesn’t mean they don’t want it and it’s yours to take to your scrap metal price dealer. Make sure you ask them first or you can get in a lot of trouble. Remember, if it’s on their property it’s theirs!

Do your research before you decide to go out collecting, it will save you much time and make a big difference in the long run.

Once you get the word out and start making scrap metal pricing connections you can easily pull in an extra $2,000 a month on selling to scrap metal price dealers or people who need it. You just have to put in the initial work to get started,; as time goes by and you figure out better ways to perform tasks and different ways to do it you can improve how much cash you make and the amount of effort that you use in order to get it. If you know other people who collect, then you can also get with them and share best practices, or if your job becomes big enough you can combine your efforts. What you’ll also find out is you’ll come across some items that you just want to keep for yourself. I’ve found entire bicycles that were in perfect condition and someone just didn’t want it!! I don’t consider that scrap metal…one man’s junk is another man’s treasure.

Scrap metal price can vary from location to location. You can take one piece of scrap metal to a dealer for pricing and get 10 cents or it and take the same piece to a different dealer for a price and end up getting 50 cents for it! Scrap metal prices should be fair for both parties so ask around and try and find a reputable dealer or you’ll end up wasting a lot of time and effort. This page is all about information about scrap metal price’s and how to sell obtain it. If you wish to read more specifically about the scrap metal price list we will be discussing this in another article.

As mentioned before, some people will go as far as an hour out of their way to get the best scrap pricing around; it can really make a big difference. You can find scrap metal price lists online as well for your community. Some websites will even show the weight of the scrap metal compared to the amount of money they’ll give you. Also keep in mind that some dealers prefer certain types of scrap metal over others, so that means that the price can vary greatly depending on who you see although overall you will see that the list will be the same.

Many junkyards will have a large “scrap metal prices chart” or picture of the current list showing what they’ll pay for certain items. You can get a copy of this list from them or have them order you one so you can have your own. Scrap pricing is possibly the most important aspect of collecting scrap metal because if you work hard only to get ripped off then you’ve only wasted your time. Make sure that you take your time, do your research, to ensure you’re getting the best price for your area. I know people that have been collecting scrap metal for upwards of ten years and could get a MUCH better scrap metal price if they just simply did a little more research and changed a few things. In the world of scrap metal collecting it’s usually not one small thing that you change but a number of small things that really add up to a big scrap metal price cash in.

This is an example what a typical scrap metal price list for aluminum cans would be.

You can make around 60k a year or more in scrap metal collecting and only have to collect three times a week. I make a couple of trips to my scrap metal price dealer and cash in. This is much less work than going to work every day and working for 8 hours. My first year I was only making around 10k a year at the most but it takes time to learn the ropes in scrap metal collecting. If I had to say one thing that was most important for getting a good deal would recommend finding the best location for collecting your scrap metal and keeping an eye on the scrap metal price list. But how do you find that? I found it by building a good relationship with my scrap metal price dealer and then he began to tell me where other people were collecting. this skyrocketed the scrap metal price I was getting because the scrap metal was of higher quality than what it used to be and I was able to find more of it. So maybe I should say that the most important part is building a good relationship with your dealer.

Another way I have heard of (but never tried myself) that people maximize their scrap metal prices is by contacting a stock broker. They can more easily predict the scrap metal price’s and what’s going to happen. Stock brokers can view the scrap metal prices list and make accurate predictions as to where it’s headed. If scrap metal price is going to go down then you want to sell your scrap metal asap. If scrap metal price is going to go up then you may want to hold off on your visit to your scrap metal price dealer. But what happens is people hold off on going to their scrap metal price dealer because they know it’s going to go up, and then the price goes up because nobody is selling! It’s actually very complicated and can be really tricky. I prefer to just sell to my dealer as soon as I obtain my load. But then again I don’t have the luxry of being able to store my scrap metal.

What this all comes down to is be honest, build a good relationship, know the scrap metal price list, and don’t hold out on your dealer or you’ll end up being the one paying the price!

Many people ask me what the difference between bad scrap metal and good scrap metal. The answer is the consistency and quality of the element within. Scrap metal that is rusted or has other elements inside of the metal will not sell very well. The scrap metal price dealer will need to take an estimate on how much of it is scrap metal and how much of it isn’t; typically the dealer will low ball in order to make sure he doesn’t get ripped off. This is only fair. You can cut down on getting poor scrap metal prices like this by only gathering high quality material. This requires that you take a bit more time rather than just going to a place and scooping up a large hunk of something that looks like it could have something valuable in it. As time goes by you will get better and better at finding exactly what you’re looking for.

The key to doing this is to find a place that produces only pure high quality scrap metal through and through. Many mechanic shops are a good place to start. They have parts from cars that have gone bad and are virtually worthless to them, but if retrieved you can get a great scrap metal price for them. One thing to consider when picking up the parts is that they are indeed worthless. Some mechanics simply do not have the space to store their bad scrap metal pieces / parts so they throw them out. There are times where the part can actually be sold as is as a part rather than taking it to a scrap metal price dealer who would pay you by the pound. Certain mufflers weigh a pound and you would get 20 cents or so for it, where as if the muffler is still good you could sell it for 70 dollars depending on what kind it is. So it helps to develop some knowledge in whatever type of place you are collecting in so that you can recognize when the value of that item is actually higher being sold as is or if it should be taken to a dealer.

Another thing that’s important when collecting scrap metal is that you check it for rust. Scrap metal price dealers really hate rust and if you bring them a bunch of rusted scrap metal they most likely will not want to deal with you anymore. Rust is like a fungus or growth on scrap metal and it can get on other pieces and really ruin it so just stay away from it. This is especially imprtant in places that rain a lot. This is why if you could fly your scrap metal over to the UK you would really make a lot of money for it. Scrap metal prices in the UK are high because the weather there is often rainy which leads to more rust than usual. A lot of people don’t know this, but the problem is how would you ship your scrap metal over there!? Unless you had an absurd amount to make it worth it, probably just better to stick within your community.

Another aspect of collecting and getting the best scrap metal price is the quality of the scrap metal. What I mean is just like diamonds can come in different karot’s scrap metal can come in different qualities. The scrap metal price is going to be almost directly dependant on this feature. Once again the key is WHERE you’re collecting your scrap metal from. This just comes with experience and driving around. If you really want the best price then put in the time and research and once again..location location location!!

Because scrap metal value can vary so greatly from place to place it’s really important you get involved in the community. You can get online and search for forum boards or websites and view the scrap metal value but that’s only one piece. There’s far too much to discuss on one page but we will try and cover this more as we document and poast new articles. The entire purpose of collecting scrap metal is to get a great scrap value per lb and if you’re getting ripped off (as many do) then it’s just a waste of time. Nobody likes to waste their time because as the saying goes, time is money and in this business that is truly paramount. You can usually tell if you are getting a poor estimate on your scrap metals value by looking at your local scrap metal price list for your area. If you don’t know how to read these lists then there are online manuals, make sure that you check the date so that you are getting current prices. But what is it? It’s like the bluebook for scrap metal value current and old so you can see where it’s going and where it’s headed. There’s really a lot more to it than most people realize. Let’s talk about that.

Let’s say that you’ve collected several hundred pounds of scrap metal and the value indicates that right now scrap metal prices are at 10 cents a lb. You could go immediately and cash in for that price but if you see that in the scrap metal price list the past four months scrap value has gone up gradually, maybe you want to hold out for a couple of months and see if you can get a little more cash. Everyone would like more cash but you have to take the right steps in order to make that happen. On the down side of that scrap metal value can also just as easily go down. This can take time and be confusing to a lot of people but as with anything research is key. Look at scrap metal price list as a mini stock market; as with anything it can fluctuate and you want to sell at just the righ time. The longer you collect scrap metal the better you will be at prediciting what’s going to happen to the current scrap value in your area. Some things that can affect scrap metal prices is the area. Take your time and don’t rush so that you can make the right decision for your business. If you live in a place where scrap metal is easy to come by then the demand is not so high so they will not have such a good price for it. Adversely if you live in an area where scrap metal is very difficult to come by (Alaska!) then the scrap value in your area may be great.

Here’s another thing to consider. If the scrap metal value in your area is very high because there isn’t a lot of scrap metal in your area you may want to speak with your scrap metal price dealer and set up some sort of program where he gets it from you only. Remember, a scrap metal price dealer can only hold so much at a time, once he reaches that point he can’t buy anymore until he sells it and makes his profit. What this means is you’ll have to work harder to collect to keep him full. Doing this will discourage people from other cities and towns from coming to yours and selling their scrap metal to your dealer and taking away some of your profits. It really just comes down to how much time and effort you want to spend and put into collect it.

But how? Well first you want to check the other sections of this site to make sure that you have enough that a scrap metal price dealer will want to deal with you at all. You don’t want to just show up with a couple of pieces of metal and ask for some money. While they may give it to you it won’t really be worth the trip unless you have some very large pieces of scrap metal for them to work with. Also, if you continuously make trips back and forth to their place then you may get on their bad side; long story short it’s best to bring a bunch all at once so they can put a good price on it. You want to work with your dealer and find out what he needs and what he wants that way you are a pleasure to see instead of someone they would rather not deal with. I have a good relationship with my scrap metal price dealer and I know what he expects.

Finding a scrap metal price dealer can be easy depending on your location. It’s best to just do a search on the internet or ask around. If there isn’t one in your area then you’ll be faced with the task of stock piling your scrap and then taking it all to the scrap metal price dealer in one big load on the weekend. But the traveling can be a fun part of it, and if you know any scrap metal junk places along the way you can swing by and make a little more money. It’s all about planning and execution, otherwise you’ll be wasting a lot of time for not much profit. Make sure you find an honest, fair scrap metal price dealer. Some will try and give you too little for it. This usually happens when you don’t know the value of your scrap metal price so make sure you know the facts and keep in mind that you’ll continue to get better as time goes by.

Ok, so you have all this scrap metal but now what? You sure don’t want to get ripped off by a scrap metal price dealer for all this looking around you’ve been doing! I made the mistake when I first started off of just selling scrap metal it as quick as I could. What you have to keep in mind is that if someone gives you a bad scrap price for scrap metal at the start, they’ll continue to do it the next time you see them! Make sure you get as much money from your scrap metal price as you can. Negotiating scrap metal prices with the dealer is a good thing and can really maximize your income. Even if you can just get 10 cents more per scrap lb. that’s going to add up quickly in the long run. I’ve made it a habit of asking for five cents more from the scrap metal price dealer than what I’m offered. They never seem to care but I know it adds up over the long months of scrap metal re-usage. You can find many places on the web for scrap metal pricing in your area, some people will even travel across the US just to get the best scrap pricing on their metal!!

As long as the person you are dealing with is giving you a fair deal on your scrap metal price then you’re gold. An honest relationship between two people is invaluable so don’t try to take advantage, and don’t be taken advantage of! If you can build a good relationship with your scrap metal price dealer then he will appreciate your business, give you fair prices on your scrap metal and sometimes only deal exclusively with you. Scrap metal price dealers are at somewhat of a risk simply because if they purchase scrap metal from an outside party whom they have never dealt with then they run the risk of getting some parts of bad scrap metal. When someone delivers 200 lb’s of scrap metal it’s hard to verify that all of it is actually good pure metal and not items put in there just to add weigh to get a larger price. Once you become a reputable scrap metal collector then you can either be given a referral so that you can deal with other dealers. Some people make this their entire job, simply collecting scrap metal and selling it at the highest price possible.

What is a scrap metal price list ? If you’re into collecting and cashing in then knowing where to find and how to read a scrap metal price list is going to be invaluable. Watching the scrap metal price list is a lot like watching the stock market in that you need to know when to collect, and when to sell. If you sell your scrap metal at a time when the scrap metal price list indicates that prices are very low then you’re not going to be maximizing your profits. You also need to know what types are at the hightest. But looking at the scrap metal price list
you can see the current running for copper, aluminum and other metals. If copper is way up and aluminum is down then you’ll want to concentrate on filling your trucks with copper and holding off on the aluminum.

Maybe now you can see the benefit of purchasing scrap metal as well. If you look at the scrap metal price list and see that aluminum is not going for a very high price, then you could buy a bunch of it from somone who is trying to get rid of it. Then, just like stock once the scrap metal price list indicates the price has gone back up you can sell it for an easy profit. Many times this is what scrap metal dealers are doing when they purchase it from you. They keep a close eye on the scrap metal price list and know when to buy what and at what price. If you don’t look at the scrap metal price list then you are going to be in the dark about what to sell at and when and what to collect.

The scrap metal price list can be found online and you can even see it in most major newspapers. Typically the scrap metal price list will be viewed as a chart so that you can view the trendline and see if it’s headed up or down. Additional research is typically needed to extrapolate the coming results of and make your business adjustments accordingly.

Wondering about recycling scrap metal? Good idea, let’s talk a little bit about the importance of recycling your scrap metal gatherings. Not Recycling Scrap metal can really harm the environment in more ways than you know, not to mention make it look pretty ugly! You can ruin the appearance of an entire house just by dumping a load of scrap metal in the front yard. It can even bring down the property value and if it sits long enough you can be fined. Recycling scrap metal can be done at your local Scrap Metal Recycling Plant (SRP) or by simply taking it to a compacted junkyard where they will press it together and incinerate it.

It feels good to recycle and it helps out everyone. This is one of the main reasons I started scrapping metal and have just turned it into a money making benefit as well by working through dealers. Spread the word around your community, the more people who want to recycling scrap metal the better, and their incentive can be monetary gains so include that too (or offer to pick it up from them so you can get the money for it!!). One thing to look out for is a junkyard. Not all junkyards are efficient at recycling scrap metal, most often it just sits there festering and making things look bad. The rust can even seep into the ground and ruin the soil and that can lead to a decrease in overall fertility.

I think the most important thing to do is a lot of research to find the safest, most efficient way of recycling your scrap metal. If you do not have a scrap metal recycling process in your area you can even mail your congressman and request a plant to be established. As always, do your research by asking around and doing a search for scrap metal recycling on the internet to find the nearest scrap metal plant in your area.
